I've suffered from knee injuries and I will tell you that you HAVE to have strong quads and glutes ... so do those squats and lunges and don't get complacent about it (like me.) And also, if you are huffing and puffing a lot then slow down some. It WILL get easier if you keep it up. I promise! (And you will be amazed at how quickly the pounds will come off if you keep up with the good eating too. Running is great for weight loss!)

And one last thing ... I have found that subscribing (or buying in the store) to a running magazine or two (my favorites are Runners World and Women's Running) are great for good info and inspiration. I read them from cover to cover and it just makes me want to get out there and run!

There is also a great book by Kara Goucher (olypmic distance runner and new mom) called Running for Women (http://www.amazon.com/Kara-Gouchers-Running-Women-Marathons/dp/1439196125/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311110879&sr=1-1).

Anyway ... I'm off my soapbox now. I am so proud of you! Just remember that it isn't always going to be easy but running through that finish line is an amazing feeling and it can even be addicting! You go girl!!! Maybe my husband will humor me and do it with me (he can go 5 "miles" on the elliptical without even breathing heavy. . GRRR).Susanhttp://www.gronows.comnoreply@blogger.com
